Day 1. Leave Queenstown around 9am and start your journey with cruise on Lake Wakatipu to get to the beginning of the Around the Mountains Trail. Your Tour Leader will meet you at Walter Peak Station ready to fit you to your bikes and set you on your way. Head away from the lake to enter the Von Valley and ride through amazing mountain scenery down to Mavora Lakes. We then shuttle you to Mossburn to stay at the historic Railway Hotel.
Day 2. We take you into the Mavora Lakes Conservation Park where you ride past the lake before rejoining the Around the Mountains Trail to ride back to Mossburn. Spend a second night at the Railway Hotel.
Day 3. From Mossburn, follow the cycle trail down to Lumden before turning north and heading up the east side of the Eyre Mountains. We have a few options today so the amount of cycling you complete will depend on the weather and the energy of the group. At the end of the day we take you to the lovely Kingston Homestead where our local chef will prepare you a beautiful meal showcasing local produce.
Day 4. From the Kingston Homestead follow the undulating, purpose built cycle trail through farmland down the valley to finish where you ended the day before, completing your cycle journey Around the (Eyre) Mountains. After loading the bikes on the trailer, we take you on to Lawrence ready for the second part of your Triple Trail Combo.
Day 5. From Lawrence you start the Clutha Gold Trail and ride through farmland and alongside the magnificent Clutha River through to the village of Roxburgh to stay at the lovely Lake Roxburgh Lodge.
Day 6. Your last day and, from the client feedback we get, the favourite day of riding for most people. Ride from where you finished yesterday to enter the Roxburgh Gorge, New Zealand’s ‘Grand Canyon’. Enjoy the remoteness and dramatic scenery complemented by a fun jet boat ride in the middle or the gorge, this is an amazing trail.Finish the cycle on the Millenium Track to Clyde for a celebratory drink before we take you back to Queenstown.Expect to be back in Queenstown by 6pm.
